A Little Bit About Us

Here we are on a nice day on Lake Superior in 2008. Pat and Rob had the easy part, just being on the boat. Tom had to row the dinghy over to shore and climb a hill to take this photograph. And row back and hope Pat and Rob returned for him...

Here is Pat, the skipper of the boat. Pat is doing the skipper thing and watching carefully forward while Rob steers the boat and manages the sails and lines. He looks serious but Rob and Tom know it as the look he has when everyone else is doing all the work. Pat owns the boat with his wife Michele. Us three guys are sailing it to France. Our wives plan to fly over to meet us.

Here is Rob, Pat's (older) brother. Rob is steering the boat, watching the wind, adjusting the sails, and pretty much doing everything. He looks serious, too, but that is because he sees Pat's head starting to bob up and down as he nods off.

Both Pat and Rob look pretty warm and comfortable in these photos.

Here is Tom. This photo was taken another day on another sailing trip off the coast of California. Tom's photo is considerably more dramatic than the others because Tom got to select these pictures and he laid out this page of the blog. Tom wants to be sure you see that huge wave rolling up behind him, part of which ended up in his boots. You can click on this picture for a hi-res, full drama view. And, that is another person behind me, not my third arm. He is clipping in to steer while I go to the rail to puke, if I remember correctly.
